Description:

Consisting of a command site (Oscar-Zero) and a launcher site (November-33), the Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Site (RRMSHS) preserves the mission of the 321st Strategic Missile Wing and Grand Forks Air Force Base. It also provides analysis and interpretation of deactivated Minuteman missile ICBM (Intercontinental ballistic missile) facilities in eastern North Dakota.

Cold War Interests:

The Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Site preserves the Oscar-Zero Missile Alert Facility which closed in 1997. It also offers a broader and deeper perspective on the Cold War in North Dakota, for example, by documenting the American ICBM mission from its inception in the 1950s and by providing an overview of the US Strategic Air Command. The motto of the US Strategic Air Command – Peace is our Profession – symbolized the deterrent mission maintained by US nuclear forces from the end of World War II to the end of the Cold War.

Due to space, our site events related to the Cold War are limited. We hope to introduce new events in the future.

We do participate in research activities, this involves articles concerning the Minuteman missile and the Cold War in North Dakota. Our latest articles can be read in our Blog.

The RRMSHS can be found on social media including Facebook and Twitter.

We hope to cooperate with many Cold War museums (especially those concerning missiles). Currently, we work together with the Minuteman Missile National Historic Site in South Dakota.
